Dear creepy crow, find another tree to haunt!
Okay, here is the final (thankfully) and last of my bird woes. This year Ty and I celebrated our big 6 year anniversary. We try to go visit our tree that we were married under on the coldest day of the year in Feb. so long ago to take a picture or two of our special day.
So my dear sister Hailey was kind enough to watch Nix while we drove up the American Fork Canyon to Mutual Dell. That time of year up the canyon is silent and still with all the beautiful glistening snow, it's crazy you feel so isolated just ten minutes uo the road.
When we got there, of course it still had feet of snow to pass through to get to our tree. We trekked our way and finally arrived under our romantic tree. So Ty starts to get the camera out to take some pictures of our amazing accomplishment when in the stillness and peacefulness we hear a CAWWWWWWW! This was scary as hell, and so loud I thought he was going to dive bomb asap. At the moment the bird got all rustling Ty and I were kissing and I went into panic mode...and as you'll see in the pictures both of us just started busting up, because nature always has a sick crow to break up the romance. Thanks interrupting Raven, you gave us a good laugh.

Don't let the door hit you on the way...in?

This bird story may have just been paranoia, but come now, wouldn't you be if you were me? It was a bright, beautiful summer day two years ago when I was still a COA at The Cataract and Lasik Center of Utah. I got out of my car, excited for a new day, and so happy the sun was out and shinning. So, I start to walk into work when I see our OD, Dr. Beaty walking towards me on the left. Dr. B. and I got along really well, and we started chatting, and out of the mind, I could hear scuttling of birds in the parking lot. My eyes got wide, and I ran to the door, and poor Dr. B. only a step behind me got the door slammed in her face. I just stood there by the door startled that was what I did in a panic, and as she opened the door with a "What the...." look on her face.. I confessed, "I am sorry, I have terrible luck with birds!"
Thinking back, I like to rationalize my actions by telling myself, "It's only me that lived with this black cloud of bird battles, she was safe outside, they only attack a certain few, and she was a great outdoor enthusiast. I am sure the animals and birds have a mutual respect for the outdoorsy type.
Sorry again for the rudeness, but Momma gotta protect herself!

Just wunnin awound!
So back a week or so when the weather was sa sa nice Nix and I have been on the back patio just runnin' around! Nix was in his little car (which was a sweet day when we found this little number in the storage room that Jae and Beft left) and all day he wants to be outside runnin and cruisin, and I can't seem to keep any shoes on him, so we end up with this....
Oh and also, he loved toting the shoes around, just not on his feet. He also ate the pokey bush that I tried to get him away from constantly. Pokey bush 1, Nix and momma 0.

Owls are birds too ya know!

So sorry that this post is out of order, but it's a good one none the less. This story begins at about 8:30 on a Sunday night. I was heading back to old Rexburg from a visit with Tyler. This is in the same car that I had the ROCKS ICE BIRDS OH MY excursion in. Curses! I was in the abyss of traveling through a construction zone of 50 mph through Malad. I am following a car in front of me who decides to swerve off the right, and before I know it, my once bad instinct was to swerve to the left, careening off into incoming traffic, and down a huge ditch witch popped both my front tires. It was all so sudden, I was in shock and couldn't believe I almost hit a deer (which now I know better to just hit the dead bambi.)
So shame on my instincts because it's about 10:30 at night and I am in a ditch with flat tires, and a ways from my appartment. Luckily a cop came ( a hillbilly himself) and helped me out. A while later he came trapsing back with what looked like a HUGE carcas. When he got closer I realized IT WAS A GREAT HORNED OWL!!!!! Those things have a 6 foot wing span, and the poor dead thing in the middle of the road that I thought was a fawn WAS A FREAKY BIRD!!! I mean what are the odds? The cop asked me if I didn't mind if he took it home to stuff, and as I said go ahead, I was mad I didn't just hit the pristine looking dead owl. I have to admit though, owls do kind of look cute, so if I almost died to the fowls of the earth, I guess it would be best to go by this guy.
Later the tow truck guy came as well, and luckily I only spent another hour or two in that tiny town. I was lucky I didn't roll the car, or hit another driver, and was grateful it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Bombs Away

Let's fast forward to the early years of Ty and I. We were living in Shauna and Mike's upstairs (bless them for their kindness) and Ty is in charge of mowing their lawn. He loves it and he really is great at working outside. So one day I had a question so I decided to go down to the bottom of the hill and ask away!
So, mind you Ty has been mowing for at least half an hour bird free. It wasn't until I came moseying around to draw them out. There are very large trees in the neighbors back yards, and those peskies.. they spotted me and between Ty and I they chose me to dive bomb. FOUR BOMBS to my head... they were attacking and making a ruckus and sent me running for cover.
Ty kept mowing in peace, without any dive bombs. See? I tell you I am a bird magnet in such a bad way.
The picture is what I am going to be for Halloween so at least I can trick them into leaving me alone for one blasted day!

Blasting Zone

This story is short and sweet but all to crazy at the same time. I was going to school in BYU Idaho and had a crappy old Corolla (but glad to have any car) that I would drive home to Utah a lot to see Ty and Angelee. This trip I was carting around some girls that wanted a ride to Utah as well, one among them Dr. Dre Proctor, ya, I remember you were there.....anyway, it was bad weather of course, I mean when is it really good weather in Idaho or Utah? Maybe 2 months or so, either way, it wasn't one of these blessed months.
We were on the freeway and going over an overpass, which as many of you know easily collects ice. So in the two lane highway, there's a diesel truck to my right and a diesel truck in front of me. In a matter of six seconds my life became all to alike to Tommy boy when they hit the deer and look at each other like "Did that really just happen?"
As I cross the overpass, the truck ahead of me spits out like 10 rocks, I hit the ice and to top it all off, BIRDS. Probably 6 birds blast into my windshield as I am fishtailing, and after I got control of the car, I just sat there all rigid and wide eyed. Blasted birds. Andrea made up a funny jingle... ROCKS, ICE, BIRDS OH MY!
Black , feathery, and bad

Made you want to read again....Ahh ahhh ahh (think of me sounding like the count on Sesame Street)
Here's number two, don't worry, there are more than a couple of bird stories.
1. The raven of death
This story starts age 11 and involves Hailey and I guess well everyone else that rode home in our van. One day in Rocklin CA Hailey and I were merrily getting ready for church, I guess speak for myself, Hailey probably hated it. Anyway, there we were blasting Afterglow when we hear a tap tap a roo. So I turn down the music and say "Hailey did you hear that?" And then another faint tap tap... I follow the tap and lift the blinds to find a HUGE sick black crow on the rooftop just outside the window, tapping, eerily waiting for someone to come to his bidding. So of course I jump back a little startled and to my dismay I see the crow start to heave and heave, and eventually hawk up a sick dead carcass (who knows what he got to) and gently place it on the roof top and flies away. It felt like a car crash, you can't help but look even though everything tells you of the bad bad things in front of your eyes.
So I think "Well, that was disgusting" and return to crank up the Afterglow.
Then a few hours later we drive back from church and out of the corner of my eye I notice this black omen, hopping hopping on each sidewalk section, following our van all the way back to our house. CREEPY I just ran inside and thankfully never saw that wretch again.
Lesson.. never answer a tapping crow, you will get barfed on every time.
